LEBANON GLEANERS
The Lebanon Gleaners is a non-profit community organization established in 1980 that provides low cost food to families in the Lebanon Oregon area. This is possible through affordable membership fees, donations, fundraising, grants, and harvest days known as gleans. Members are able to pick up one box of food per week, which includes all types of nutritious food, including organic products and fresh produce. We understand the challenges of allergies and medical conditions and work to meet the needs of all families. There are additional distribution days during random times of the year when we receive additional food from local farmers and vendors.
Lebanon Gleaners also helps to build a sense of community. By utilizing community resources, we not only help our members, but decrease waste in the community where we live and raise our families. This is a critical aspect of gleaning because up to one-fifth of Americas food goes to waste each year. An average of 130 pounds per person ends up in the landfills each year. The Lebanon Gleaners is a group that is conscious of the importance of sustainable living and we work toward reducing our carbon footprint.
